Air Purifiers - For That Whiff of Fresh Air
|
Whoever said, "I know that our bodies were made to thrive only in pure air,
and the scenes in which pure air is found" couldn't have been more right.
And since in these days of pollution, pure air cannot be taken for granted,
air purifiers are the only way out.
Clean air is a
prerequisite to healthy living. But air serves as the carrier to various kinds
of bacteria, virus, smoke and dust particles that pose threats for our fragile
respiratory tracts. And it is not only the infants, the elderly and the sick who
are vulnerable but a healthy adult can also catch a disease or two like
tuberculosis and pneumonia if exposed to polluted air for long periods.
And polluted air need not be confined to the streets only. In fact, a study has
found that the inside of your house is as polluted and more than the streets you
walk on. Air purifiers ensure that the air inside your home is cleared of the
pollutants so that you can maintain a
healthy lifestyle.
Air purifiers come in
various types. For instance, there are ones fitted with
the very advanced HEPA filters that take in the air into their cleaning sac,
sifts the harmful pollutants and releases the clean air back into the room. On
the other hand, there are air cleaners with very basic gas filters that suffice
for removing kitchen odors.
There are air cleaners that come with ionizers. These ionizers release
negatively charged ions into the atmosphere that defuse the effects of the
harmful positive ions present in the air.
Air purifiers with ultraviolet light are very effective against living
microorganisms like virus and bacteria while air purifiers with carbon filters
are ideal for doing away with chemical, smoke and smells in your home. There are
many air purifiers that produce ozone to seek and destroy the harmful airborne
impurities. There are many kinds of air purifiers and your choice primarily
depends upon the use you are going to put them to.
However, while shopping for air purifiers there are a few more things that you
need to keep in mind. First and foremost, you have to look for air purifiers
that are appropriate for the particular size of your room. This means that you
look for one that is sized so that it is able to change the entire air of the
room several times in an hour.
The noise level of air cleaners might be an issue with you but be prepared for
compromises if you have a superlative quality air cleaner that makes a bit of
noise. It is very important that you check out on the electricity consumption of
the air purifier. After all, you wouldn't want air purifiers that simply gorge
on the voltage.
Before buying air purifiers it is always worthwhile to consider the costs
involved should you need to replace filters (usually you'll have to do this
every so often) or other parts of the air cleaner. And it is always best to go
in for air purifiers that come with a spot of warranty.
Though not absolutely essential, but air purifiers that have indicators for
filter changes are handy as very dirty filters can rip off all the benefits of
having an air purifier.
With escalating levels of pollution, dust and grime, air purifiers are now as
important in a household as that antiseptic in the medicine cabinet.
